Salay-Mt Popa One Day Guided Tour ( DB08 )

Full day tour from Bagan with English speaking guide.

Start the tour with one and half hour drive to Salay. Salay is famous for its Yoke Sone Kyaung, which is a cultural heritage site with spectacular woodcarvings and collection of religious artifacts and also for being the native town of famous poet and writer Salay U Pone Nya during the time of Myanmar Kings. Then, will drive to Popa Mountain Resort where will have lunch and will enjoy the view of Popa Taung Kalat. After lunch and rest, will visit Popa Taung Kalat. There are 777 steps to reach to the top and you are expected to remove shoes and socks. On the way to top, the troops of monkeys are waiting for treats. Popa Taung Kalat shrine is the home of the 37 Nats (the spirits of ancient ancestors) and many believers in Nats come to pay homage to Nats. In the late afternoon, will drive back to Bagan. On the way, will visit a palm tree farm and learn about traditional way of palm wine and jaggery production and taste Toddy juice.
